Perspectives on homosexuality on televison?

i can tell if the show was made by gay people or not, some shows are ridicilous and inaccurate but the shows that are written by gay writers like the l word are pretty accurate. and i think gay men are always portrayed flamboyant and stereotypes are exaggerated whereas lesbians stereotypes are not overexaggerated in the media they're almost downplayed.
