The Thin red line a disappointment compared to Saving private ryan?

The Thin Red Line wasnt your typical war film, it was more of a philosophical and poetic look at war and what it does to man. It was directed by Terrence Malik and if youve seen any of his other films then you would know what i mean. Full Metal Jacket wasnt a typical war movie either, it shows mostly boot camp then has a little bit of action, but still an awesome movie. The best war movie in my opinion is Apocalypse Now, but Deer Hunter and Platoon are up there too, but those are Vietnam not WW2
