Is Scrubs an accurate portrayal of a hospital social environment?
I've worked in 3 acute hospitals and did my nurse's training in a number of others. Surgery is a rare breed and I think you'll find a different kind of staff in that setting. They call it a "surgical team" because that's exactly what it has to be. I honestly don't know about the social life outside of the hospital. Most surgeons don't have a lot of spare time and the ones who are married seem to spend their extra time with their families. I guess it depends on the hospital you choose-or rather the hospital that chooses you. Good luck and I envy you the future in the OR.
