Why are negative character portrayals of separate home fathers by single mothers often accepted as the truth.?

It's like a single mother could be standing there with a crack pipe, Jack Daniels and recently released paper work from jail for assault. Regardless if she talks badly about her children's father, there will be cheers. :>)
